A woman,a resident of Guru Nanak Pura area here,has filed a complaint against one Ranjit Singh Bagga,a Canada-based NRI,for allegedly deserting her 15 days after they got married. Assistant Commissioner of Police Naresh Dogra said the woman in her complaint has alleged that Bagga left for Canada without informing her or her family. She claimed her parents had spent lakhs of rupees on Baggas stay in India. Video conference in 15 jails,24 courts Chandigarh: the Punjab government has said that video conferencing will be made operational in 15 jails and 24 courts in state by October 31. The state submitted an undertaking to this effect in the Punjab and Haryana High Court during the resumed hearing of a PIL filed by one Viresh Shandilya seeking directions to Punjab,Haryana and Chandigarh to make the facility available in all jails and courts. HC notices to Punjab on TET Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday issued notices to Punjab on a petition seeking directions to the state to conduct Teachers Eligiblity Test (TET) before finalising the recruitment to 5,078 posts of Rural Associate Teachers (Master Cadre). One Parminder Pal and three other BEd qualified candidates had moved court alleging that Punjab had issued a notice on July 9 inviting applications for appointment to the said posts with the condition that only TET qualified candidates shall be eligible to apply. The petition will now come up for hearing on October 8. Red Cross fund: NGO for action against DCs Chandigarh: Seeking directions to the Punjab government to fix accountability of errant deputy commissioners for misuse of Red Cross funds,an NGO stated in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday that returning illegally used money does not absolve the DCs. The counsel for Punjab government argued that money spent by the DCs has been recovered.
