Pune: Increase e-awareness, say experts

AS THE government aims to increase digital transactions, police and cyber experts have listed out ways to keep financial data secure and highlighted the need for building awareness among new users. The demonetisation of the higher currency notes has already led to a rise in transactions using plastic money and everyday, more users are being added.

basic financial data safe. One should not share details of their account with anyone. Users receive links through SMSes, apps and emails. If one opens these links, there is possibility of a security breach.”

“We are regularly holding awareness programmes for citizens. There is regular interaction with bank authorities on various aspects,” he said.

Pune-based cyber expert, Rohit Srivastwa said, “There would a large number new users of Point of Sale (PoS) machines. There are some rules about use of any card. First, the physical presence of the card with you must be always checked and password is never to be shared with anyone. For any e-transaction, password protection is essential.” He added, “When PoS machines are used, the PIN should always be entered by the user. Also, SMS alert must always be enabled.”
