Former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah said that only an idiot would have concluded that Mufti Sayeed’s drama over the last few days meant PDP – BJP were actually having difficulty joining up. “The PDP – BJP tie up was a done deal ages ago, all this was just Mufti Sayeed’s grand standing as a tough guy to undo the damage in Valley.’’ [related-post] Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress president Saifuddin Soz said that it is a new experiment. “It remains to be seen how far this coalition will respond to economic, social and political aspirations of people of state.” CPI (M) general secretary and legislator Kulgam Mohammad Yusuf Targami termed this as an opportunistic alliance meant to share the power and a ploy to hoodwink the electorate. “It will prove marriage of inconvenience. Now in Jammu and Kashmir, it will be RSS who would be now dictating the BJP how to run the government,’’ he said. Targami said that for the first time in the history of the state PDP had facilitated the entry of a Kashmiri BJP law maker in the Legislative Council. Hakeem Yasin, president Peoples Democratic Front said both the parties had already an agreement over the government formation. “It was a deal done a long time ago as we saw that they (BJP and PDP) contested the elections jointly in Rajha Sabha and legislative council elections.” He said that BJP is not at all good for Kashmir. “The BJP has always been an anti-Kashmir and also a non-secular party. How can they become good in one night,’’ he asked. "Now PDP don’t talk about their self-rule for Kashmir. It would have been good for the Kashmiri people, if the Mufti Sahib would have made an agreement with BJP that Article 370 will be given pre-53 position. Both the parties wasted time of the people." Awami Itehad Party chief and independent legislator Engineer Rashid said that only the development is not the issue. “There are many things, which we have to see through this tie-up. This is the last nail in the coffin of Kashmiri people. While the process of dilution was started by Sheikh Abdullah, what ever freedom and dignity was left with Kashmiri people, Mufti finished it.”
