PM Modi Saudi Arabia Visit Today LIVE Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed for his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Monday. Ahead of his flight to Jeddah, he lauded the long and historic ties between the two nations country, asserting that their relations have acquired a strategic depth and momentum in recent years. The visit is considered to a higher priority for the Middle East country in India’s foreign policy strategy.

PM Modi’s 2-day schedule in Jeddah: Modi will also be participating in the second meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council during his third visit to Saudi over the last 10 years. In his departure statement, he added that he is looking forward to build upon the “highly successful State visit” of  Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman (MbS) to India in 2023. He is expected to interact with the Indian community in the city.

On India-Saudi bilateral ties: Speaking to Arab News ahead of his visit, Modi said trade between the two countries had grown even amid global challenges, with energy, agriculture and fertilisers as key sectors. “Our partnership has limitless potential,” he said, praising MbS’s leadership and his Vision 2030.

PM Modi Saudi Arabia Visit Today LIVE Updates: 620 deputationists to serve Indian Haj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurian said 620 deputationists had been selected to serve Indian Haj pilgrims and ensure effective management in Saudi Arabia this year.

Kurian inaugurated a two-day orientation-cum-training programme of selected deputationists for Haj 2025 at the SCOPE Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

In his inaugural address, the Union minister appreciated the role of Haj deputationists as crucial enablers in successful Haj operations and exhorted them to perform the duties assigned to them with utmost sincerity and commitment.

In total, 620 deputationists -- 266 administrative and 354 medical -- have been selected this year in order to assist the Consulate General of India, Jeddah, in effective Haj management in Saudi Arabia with the objective of serving Indian Haj pilgrims, according to an official statement.

These deputationists have been selected through a rigorous selection process. During the orientation-cum-training programme, they are being trained on different issues, including overview of Haj operations, role of deputationists, health issues, crowd and disaster management, and the Haj Suvidha App before being deputed to Saudi Arabia. — PTI

Saudi singer Hashim Abbas sang a popular Hindi film song to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he arrived at his hotel on his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Standing in front of Modi, Abbas sang 'Ae watan mere aabad rahe tu' from the Alia Bhat-Vicky Kaushal starrer Raazi.

Modi joined in with claps amid loud cheers from the gathering in the hotel's lobby.

Modi also interacted with members of the Indian community who had gathered to welcome him at the hotel.

Modi arrived here for the two-day visit at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This is the prime minister's third visit to the country and the first one to the historic coastal city of Jeddah.

Earlier, Abbas told PTI, “When I started singing, my friends told me that one day I would sing in front of PM Modi. I didn't believe them... I love India. It is a great country led by the great leader, PM Narendra Modi.” PTI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has landed in Jeddah for his two-day State visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This visit by Modi is the first visit by an Indian prime minister in 40 years to Jeddah.

Modi and the Crown Prince will co-chair the second meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council, established during the prime minister's 2019 visit to strengthen bilateral ties.

As a special gesture, the Prime Minister's aircraft was escorted by F-15s of the Royal Saudi Air Force in Saudi airspace.

The gesture is being seen as deepening of defence cooperation between the two countries.

Modi described the crown prince as "my brother".

PM Modi Saudi Arabia Visit Today LIVE Updates: Saudi F15 jets escort PM Modi's aircraft

In a special gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aircraft was escorted by F-15 jets of Saudi Arabia when his special flight entered the airspace of the Gulf nation on Tuesday, officials said.

Modi is paying a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also released a video of the Saudi jets escorting Modi's aircraft.

The gesture is being seen as deepening of defence cooperation between the two countries.

Modi on Tuesday said India and Saudi Arabia have a natural interest in safeguarding peace and stability in the region and the growing defence and security collaboration between the two countries is a reflection of deep mutual trust.

In an interview with Arab News ahead of his arrival in Jeddah, Modi described Saudi Arabia as "one of India's most valued partners, a maritime neighbour, a trusted friend and a strategic ally".

"We consider Saudi Arabia as a force of positivity and stability in the region. As maritime neighbours, India and Saudi Arabia share a natural interest in safeguarding peace and stability in the region," he said. — PTI
