During the debate on in the Lok Sabha, PM Narendra Modi said "the world has seen the scale of our operations. They range from Sindoor to Sindhu (Indus); Pakistan knows they have to pay huge price for any misadventure."

He further said, "foreign policy is not 'event-baazi'" and urged the Centre to formulate a proper policy.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, while speaking to reporters, said, "It is unfortunate that in his one-and-a-half-hour speech, Home Minister Amit Shah did not utter a single word about his moral responsibility and failure of his department regarding the extremely tragic attack in Pahalgam. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha showed more courage because he admitted that there was a security failure in Pahalgam...Pahalgam didn't happen because of Pandit Nehru, UPA, Rahul Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi...It happened due to the failure of Union Home Minister Amit Shah..."
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said in Lok Sabha, "The Union Home Minister today spoke about what Nehru and Indira Gandhi did. He even went on to talk about my mother's tears. But he never answered why the ceasefire was announced..."

Operation Sindoor was launched on 7th May and carried out between 1:04 am and 1:24 am. In this operation, nine terror sites in Pakistan were destroyed. No Pakistani civilians were killed in this attack."
Amit Shah said, "Yesterday they (Congress) were asking us where the terrorists came from and who was responsible for it. Of course, it is our responsibility as we are in power. Yesterday, former Home Minister Chidambaram ji raised the question -what is the proof that the terrorists came from Pakistan? I want to ask him what he will get by saving Pakistan. When he says this, it means they are giving a clean chit to Pakistan..."
Amit Shah said in the Lok Sabha, "NIA had already arrested those who gave them shelter. Those who fed them were detained. When the terrorists' dead bodies reached Srinagar, they were identified as the three people who carried out the terror attack in Pahalgam... The FSL report of the cartridges from the terror attack was already ready... Yesterday, the rifles of the three terrorists were seized and matched with the FSL reports... Further tests were carried out in Chandigarh yesterday, after that it was confirmed that these three were those who carried out the terror attack."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the Lok Sabha today during the Operation Sindoor debate. It is likely that the home minister will address the Lok Sabha between 12:00 and 1:00 pm.
The security lapses that led to the Pahalgam attack, the failure to apprehend all the attackers, the claims by US President Donald Trump of having brokered peace between India and Pakistan, and the supposed losses of aircraft suffered by the armed forces – the Opposition raised all these issues during the debate on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha Monday,
Starting the debate on the Opposition’s behalf, Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi said the Centre had withheld critical details, and asked how the terrorists had managed to carry out the killings on April 22.
“This is a war of information,” Gogoi said. “(Defence Minister) Rajnath Singh gave a lot of details, but couldn’t say how five terrorists reached Pahalgam. Twenty-six innocent people were killed and we still don’t know who helped the terrorists or how they fled… You have Pegasus, satellites, CRPF, BSF, CISF, and yet no answers after 100 days?”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah should take “moral responsibility” for the killings, Gogoi said. “You can’t hide behind the L-G (J&K Lieutenant Governor). And this government, rather than accepting lapses, blamed tour operators!”
He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Pahalgam after cutting short his visit to Saudi Arabia and flying back, contrasting it with Rahul Gandhi. “Our leader went there. He is demanding martyr status for those killed,” the Congress MP said. Read Full Report
"We have wiped out approximately 20 per cent of Pakistan's airforce infrastructure. We have decimated 11 bases in three hours. This is the first time a nuclear country's air bases are destroyed,...the Indian Armed Forces achieved this. The training camps where the terrorists in 26/11 attacks were trained have been destroyed too. We killed most wanted terrorists and their masters as well. There were 50 fatalities in the Bholari Airbase, which include Pakistan's squadron leader Usman Yusuf and four Pakistani airmen." : Anurag Thakur in LS
"We will not wait for the permission (from other powers to retaliate against terror)...we will strike with precision. We did not wait for anyone, we entered the terrorists' homes and killed them, through airstrikes or surgical strikes." : BJP’s Anurag Thakur in LS
"India's new zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism today serves as a message to the world. Our Armed Forces' attacks against have caused extensive damages to training centres of [terror outfits] and Pakistan's air defences, including their radar stations, air fields and aircrafts." : BJP's Anurag Thakur in LS
Reaffirming India's stance, S Jaishankar spoke on the 'new normal' -- or a revised approach against terror -- and broke the idea down into five points:
- "Terrorists will not be treated as proxies."
- "Cross border terrorism will get an appropriate response."
- "Terror and talks are not possible together. There will only be talks on terror."
- "Not yielding to nuclear black mail."
- "Terror and good-neighbourliness cannot co-exist; blood and water cannot flow together."
Regarding the border issue EAM S Jaishankar said, "The kind of massive deployment that we saw on the China border after 2020, it is because our border infrastructure Budget has gone up four times. Our tunneling, road building and bridging have doubled or tripled. This is a far cry from the period when the thinking was 'let's not develop the border, then the Chinese cannot come there.'"
"We had 60 years of neglect of the border...in the last ten years, that neglect has been reversed. There is still a lot of work to be done," he added.
Jaishankar took another dig at the Indian National Congress over its "economic thinking of China," saying, "in 2006, agreed to do a regional trading agreement with China; it was finalised during the visit of President Hu Jintao. A task force was appointed gave a positive recommendation through the efforts of various people. This did not happen."
"The very people who are cautioning us on China are the people who allowed 3G and 4G to come from China. It was this government which made sure there was a made in India 5G," he added.
Speaking on India's relationship with China, S Jaishankar slammed the Opposition, saying, "[When the] Doklam crisis was on, the Leader of Opposition decided to get a briefing from whom? Not from the government, not from the MEA (Ministry of External Affairs), [but] from the Chinese ambassador."
"He took his briefing from the Chinese ambassador when our military was confronting the Chinese military in Doklam," he added.
Regarding his visit to China following the Pahalgam attack, EAM S Jaishankar said that he went there to "make our position very clear about de-escalation, trade restrictions and terrorism. I did not go to China for the Olympics, I did not go to China for secret agreements."
Regarding the reference made to the FATF, EAM S Jaishankar highlighted that the "longest period that Pakistan has been under FATF greylist has been under the tenure of the Modi government. During the Modi government, from 2018 to 2022, [for] 1,576 days, Pakistan was in the greylist."
Acknowledging that Islamabad was in the greylist earlier as well, although "for a shorter period," he urged the Lok Sabha to "appreciate that the FATF meeting in May 2025 has kept Pakistan in the 'enhanced follow-up category' recognising that the compliance of Pakistan is only partial."
Regarding the contentious IMF loan package cleared for Pakistan this year following the Pahalgam terror attack -- an issue the Opposition raised -- EAM S Jaishankar said, "the IMF loan, which was given, was approved in September 2024. It was an extended fund facility of $7 billion. The House should know that Pakistan is a 'serial borrower' from the IMF...sixteen or seventeen times they have taken...in 2008, Pakistan got a stand-by arrangement of $9.70 billion. In 2013, it got another $5.9 billion dollars. So, the very people who are concerned today at (sic) a $7 billion package, should remember a $15 billion package went through for Pakistan during their tenure."
Highlighting the Pakistan-China collaboration brewing "for 60 years" and criticising the Opposition inaction, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, "In 1966, the first Chinese military supplies went to Pakistan, nuclear collaboration started in 1976, when Bhutto arranged for China-Pakistan to get together. In 1980s, when PM Rajiv Gandhi was visiting China and Pakistan, that is when the nuclear collaboration was at its height; 2005, China-Pakistan Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation; 2006, Pakistan-China FTA; 2013, handing over of Gwadar port (Balochistan, Pakistan) to China; May 2013, announcement of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)."
Taking a dig at the Opposition, EAM S Jaishankar said, "these questions were being asked by the people who thought the best action (during the Mumbai attacks) was inaction."
"At no stage in our conversations with the US (on Pahalgam attack) was there any conversation about trade" : S Jaishankar in Lok Sabha
"Quad gave a statement that said 'The Quad unequivocally condemns all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism. We condemn in strongest terms the terrorist attacks in Phalgam in on 22 April and call for perpetrators and financiers of this apprehensible act to be brought to justice without any delay.'" : S Jaishankar in LS
"The US President said 28 times that they brokered the ceasefire. What's more concerning is that they used trade to pressure us. It was about terrorism, but they brought it to business. But he did not stop at that, he further said that five planes were downed. The US President further tried to bring up the topic of Kashmir....it is sad that...our government did not object...either shun Donald or shut down McDonald's in India." Indian National Congress' Deepender Singh Hooda in LS
"No country speaks to us. We are 'Vishwaguru'...we went to 200 countries, we talk about Pakistan's terror agenda, we say that we shouldn't compromise on terrorism, and I agree...but Prime Minister, not one country stood by you." : Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Ganpat Sawant in LS
Samajwadi Party's Ramashankar Rajbhar on Monday said in Lok Sabha that the country wanted "Operation Tandoor" after the Pahalgam terror attack to roast the terrorist responsible for it, and not Operation Sindoor.
Speaking during the special debate in the Lower House on the Pahalgam terror strike and Operation Sindoor, he accused the government of failing to act decisively and questioned the "delay" in the operation, saying that a mission that should have been initiated in three days was carried out after 17 days. "India has given non-violence and Gandhiji, Pakistan has given terrorist training camps. India has given refuge to Dalai Lama, Pakistan has given refuge to Osama Bin Laden.
