Odisha shivers: Record-breaking low maximum temperatures grip key cities

Cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Chandbali, Paradeep, and Baripada witnessed remarkably low temperatures, breaking records that had stood for decades.

In an unprecedented weather event, several key cities across Odisha experienced their lowest-ever maximum temperatures on Wednesday, sending a chill through the region.

Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 19.2°C, surpassing the previous lowest ever temperature of 24.3°C on March 6, 1970. Cities like Cuttack, Puri, Chandbali, Paradeep, and Baripada witnessed remarkably low temperatures, breaking records that had stood for decades.

Cuttack reported a temperature of 20°C, surpassing the previous record of 23.6°C set over five decades ago, while Puri broke the 1989 maximum temperature record by recording 20.4°C. Chandbali, meanwhile, saw temperatures drop to 21°C, eclipsing the previous low of 22.9°C recorded on March 7, 1970.

The coastal city of Paradeep experienced a maximum temperature of 20.7°C, breaking the previous record of 21.9°C set on March 10, 2015. The mercury plummeted to 20.4°C in Baripada, surpassing the previous low of 22.3°C recorded on March 5th, 1970.
