There will be zero tolerance towards terrorism and anti-national activities in the country, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday.

Speaking at the 54th Raising Day parade of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) in Hyderabad, he lauded the force for protecting and keeping the airports and seaports safe for the past 53 years.

“CISF also strengthens the country’s economy by protecting our assets and is always the first to respond, like it did during the Covid pandemic,” he said, adding: “CISF has contributed to economic growth of this nation because only when the crucial industries, vital installations, airports, seaports and other vital assets of national importance are protected does a nation progress. The CISF started off with 3,000 personnel which has now grown to over 1.70 lakh personnel.”

He said the agency is at present providing security at 66 major and sensitive airports; 14 seaports; Delhi Metro; Statue of Unity; and nuclear and space institutions.

CISF plays an important role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a five-trillion dollar economy because it protects the most crucial assets like seaports and airports, Shah said.

“Any kind of separatism, terror activities and anti-national activities will not be tolerated in any part of this country. Anyone indulging in it would be dealt with firmly. This has been made clear by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and this policy will continue,” he said.
During the Raising Day event, Shah released the CISF’s magazine Sentinel-2023 and a coffee table book on CISF. Shah also mentioned that the Raising Day of the CISF coincided with the Salt Satyagraha started by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930. He said the Salt Satyagraha demonstrated how the British empire could be defeated through non-violence.

Shah said in the coming days, CISF would be equipped with state-of-art equipment and technology like robotics and artificial intelligence to meet future security challenges. He praised the CISF for taking care of the environment wherever they have presence by planting more than 3 crore plants.

Shah said due to the presence of security forces, there has been reduction in violence in Left Wing Extremism-affected areas, Kashmir Valley and the Northeast ever since the BJP came to power in 2014. “People are now giving up violence and joining mainstream,” he said.
