(Credit: https://www.nexaexperience.com/grand-vitara)Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s largest automaker, has announced a recall of 39,506 units of its Grand Vitara SUV after identifying a potential defect in the fuel-level indicator and warning light system.
The recall applies to units manufactured between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025, the company said in a regulatory filing.
According to the automaker, the fuel gauge and warning light in the speedometer assembly may not display accurate fuel levels in some vehicles. This could mislead drivers about how much fuel remains in the tank, a safety and reliability concern.
Maruti Suzuki will contact affected owners directly to inspect and replace the faulty component free of cost at authorised workshops across the country.
“Affected vehicle owners will receive communication from Maruti Suzuki authorised dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the faulty part, free of cost.”
Shares of Maruti Suzuki closed at Rs 15,678 on the BSE, down Rs 76.95 on Friday, following the recall announcement.

Earlier in June 2023, Kia recalled one of its popular car- Kia Carens MPV in India. The South Korean manufacturer has recalled over 30,297 units of Carens in order to fix an important issue. According to the company, the Carens is called back due to a potential issue in the digital instrument cluster.
