Manipur: Order on working Easter changed after backlash

The order by the General Administration department of the Manipur government, declaring March 30 and 31 working days for the “smooth functioning of offices in the last few days of the financial year”, was originally issued on Wednesday.

Following backlash, including from as far away as Kerala, the Manipur government on Thursday modified its decision to declare the upcoming weekend, which coincides with Easter, as working days for government offices. While the order had originally made Easter Sunday a working day, it has now been changed to apply only to Saturday.
