When judges recited Sibal’s poem during verdict on Kasab

"I feel entrapped just like you do. You by your acts and I by you," the judges recited.

While upholding the death sentence of 26/11 convict Ajmal Kasab,the Supreme Court sought to highlight the trauma of the hostages through a poem of HRD Minister Kapil Sibal.

The bench of justices Aftab Alam and C K Prasad on Wednesday recited the poem ‘Retaliate’ from Sibal’s book of verses “My World Within” while emphasising how the hostages at the Taj Hotel would have felt during the terror attack.

“I feel entrapped just like you do. You by your acts and I by you,” the judges recited.

“You target me,yet you are blind product of an imprisoned mind. Your freedom comes with your last breath for me,when I escape from death. No questions asked when you will die those mourning me will question why.”

“My World Within” is a compilation of 67 verses composed by Sibal using his mobile phone during his travels within India and abroad and released earlier this year.
