State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday denounced the eight point formula of the Congress-led UPA government to break the ice of violence hit Kashmir, alleging that it was totally Kashmir- centric and anti-Jammu and Ladakh.
Talking to media persons at the party headquarters here,BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas, alongwith MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma, said that “like the past,Centre has again bowed before separatists and anti-national elements in continuation of its appeasing policy towards Kashmiris ignoring the people of Jammu and Ladakh”. In this context, they said that the recently announced eight point formula is nothing, but aimed at benefitting Kashmir only and that it has nothing for Ladakh and Jammu, which again speaks of the preferential treatment to Valley by the Union government.
Both the BJP leaders described the Union governments announcement regarding constitution of a task force for Jammu and Ladakh region as an attempt to before the people there. Alleging that Jammu and Ladakh have got mere assurances like usual, they said that the BJP will not accept this yet another instance of discrimination with these two neglected regions.
The BJP during its recent meet with the all party delegation had categorically raised the issue of discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh regions, but unfortunately the Centre has again snubbed these two areas. Condemning the Centre’s decision to release the stone pelters and withdrawal of all cases against them,BJP State president questioned,”What message Centre and State want to give to the nation by according leniency to those who break the law”.
Reminding 2008 Amarnath Land agitation,Manhas mentioned those who participated in land agitation are still facing cases for none of their crime. Also referring to the Centres announcement of ex-gratia relief of Rs five lakh to the next of kin of each deceased killed in civil disturbances in Kashmir,he asked what about those who died in 2008 land agitation.
The transporters, traders, industrialists etc too have been ignored who suffered losses worth crores of rupees during 63 days bandh during 2008 Amarnath agitation, the BJP leader said.
Alleging complete surrender of Centre to Kashmiri leaders and the state government,Manhas described as unfortunate the UPA governments request to the state government asking it to immediately convene a meeting of the Unified Command and to review the deployment of security forces and also the areas notified as ‘disturbed areas’.
The BJP chief warned of an agitation against the total surrender of Centre and said that BJP will not allow Centre to bow before the separatists and anti-national elements. He also appealed the nationalist forces of Jammu and Kashmir and pro-Jammu people to come on united platform and fight for what Jammu deserves.
