Significantly, the exercise in which ground troops and mechanized units participated, comes a week after the troops of India and China were engaged in a heated exchange in eastern Ladakh near Pangong Tso.

These few families perpetuated their power, indulged in rank corruption and whenever accountability was sought, they took shelter behind Article 370."
During the discussion over the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Namgyal had said that the region of Ladakh was facing neglect due to the problem in Kashmir and had welcomed the Centre's decision to make Ladakh a Union Territory.
Participating in the debate, Namgyal said the people of Ladakh had been fighting for UT status for seven decades. Namgyal also alleged that “two families” of J&K thought that the entire state was their private property.
