TRS slammed over cross-voting by its MLAs in AP Council polls

BJP feels that the cross-voting by TRS MLAs has deeply hurt the Telangana movement.

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti was slammed by the Telugu Desam,BJP and other parties over its MLAs allegedly voting for another party in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council elections from the Assembly quota.

“This is not the first time that TRS is involved in such a thing. Even when Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was alive,TRS split and they behaved like an affiliate of Congress. They have always used Telangana movement for their political necessities and made the agitation a commodity in the market,” T Devender Goud, senior TDP leader from Telangana, told reporters here.

“TRS MLAs won because of the strong Telangana agitation. BJP feels that the cross-voting by TRS MLAs has deeply hurt the Telangana movement. I demand that TRS offer an explanation to the people of Telangana on the issue,” state BJP spokesman NVSS Prabhakar said.

CPI state secretary K Narayana also criticised the TRS for the cross-voting by its MLAs.

Taking serious exception to the TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s allegation that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was responsible for the cross-voting by its MLAs,Congress chief whip M Bhatti Vikaramarka said it was an attempt by Rao to cover up his own failures.

Coming down heavily on the TDP leaders for their criticism,TRS leaders E Rajender and G Jagadeeswar Reddy said the TDP leader have no moral right to criticise TRS.

“TDP leaders from Telangana cannot raise their voice on the statehood demand as Chandrababu Naidu is against it. People know what is the truth. We challenge the TDP leaders for an open debate on the whole thing,” Rajender said.
