Three militants killed in J-K encounter

Bodies of two militants have been recovered so far,police said.

Three militants were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district today.

The gun battle broke out after troops of 21 Rashtriya Rifles and police launched a cordon and search operation in Bagh-e-Hakhar in Handwara,90 kms from here,in Kupwara,official sources said.

In the ensuing exchange of fire,three militants have been killed.

The operation was still in progress when reports last came in.

Bodies of two militants have been recovered so far,police said.

The slain ultras were buried at a local graveyard.

Army and police are searching through the debris of the house for the body of third militant,they said,adding that two AK rifles have been recovered from the encounter site.
