Three injured in Manipur PWD office blast

Grenade,suspected to have been kept on top floor of 3-storey building exploded around 11.30 am.

Three persons were injured when a powerful blast took place in the high-security office of the Manipur Public Works department on Wednesday.

The grenade,suspected to have been kept on the top floor of the three-storey building where the chief engineer’s office is located,exploded around 11.30 am.

The bomb smashed window panes and damaged doors during peak office hour,police said.

All the injured were admitted to hospital.

The building has been heavily fortified by securitymen after government officials faced frequent extortion demands by various militant outfits.

“It was a very powerful timer bomb,” said Additional DGP V Jathang who along with DGF Y Joykumar visited the spot soon after the explosion.
