Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that “activism” and “arrogance” of media would take it nowhere.

“Today’s media activism is leading to arrogance and it is bound to nosedive,as has been the case with the politicians,executive and to some extent also in judiciary,” he cautioned.

He also lamented the way “paid news” distorted the facts and image of contestants in the last elections in the state for Lok Sabha and state Assembly. He narrated the sequence of facts how he had been a victim of paid-news phenomenon in one of the elections.

Hooda advised media to be sure of facts and details of news items before putting them into print or electronic medium to avoid any confusion.

Hooda said this while inaugurating a 3-day orientation programme for the working journalists of Haryana in Kurukshetra University here this afternoon.

Haryana CM said pre-Independence media had a mission which united and liberated the country,but now it has become occupation and its values also have been changed with the passage of time.

Chief Minister asked the editors and media-owners to reconsider the system of localised four or six page pull-outs which has left no time for the reporters to verify facts of news-events.
