Post-Jagan raid,CBI probe demanded against ex-ministers

Congress MLA Balineni calls for CBI probe against erstwhile YSR cabinet ministers.

A former Andhra Pradesh minister and two sitting legislators from the Jagan Reddy camp on Friday met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and sought a CBI probe against the members of the erstwhile YS Rajasekhara Reddy cabinet.

Former Mines Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy,MLA B Sobha Nagireddy and MLC Jupudi Prabhakar met the chief minister at his camp office against the backdrop of CBI investigations into the amassing of wealth and charges of corruption against Jagan, and the raids being conducted by the agency on the MP’s residences as well as businesses.

Balineni, who is a Congress MLA,handed over a letter to the chief minister seeking a CBI probe against the ministers of the erstwhile YSR cabinet.

“Since the decisions taken by the then YSR government are being questioned now,it is essential to probe the role of ministers of that government as the Cabinet is collectively responsible,” Balineni pointed out.

As then mines minister under YSR Balineni said he was ready to face the CBI investigation.

Jagan, who is accused of money laundering and securing heavy investments into his business ventures as a quid pro quo when his father was the state chief minister, has himself sought to push the blame on the then ministers saying it was “collective responsibility” of then cabinet in allotting land and doling out other favours to certain companies and individuals.

“The law will take its own course,” has been the common refrain of some of the key ministers of the erstwhile YSR Cabinet, who are part of the current Kiran Kumar Reddy government as well. Our leader YSR himself used to say the law will take its own course. We are ready to face the CBI inquiry,if required,” state Finance Minister Aanam Ramanarayana Reddy said.
