'As fresh Assembly elections drew near, the ruling BSP is using all tactics to retain power.'

The Opposition BJP in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday alleged the state government was tapping its leaders’ phones, and as fresh Assembly elections neared, the ruling BSP was using all tactics to retain power.

“Phones and converstations of BJP leaders are tapped by the state government, which is afraid of the BJP,” party spokesman Hardwar Dubey claimed.

He said that on February 25,two constables of the local intelligence unit (LIU) were found at a press conference of party president Surya Pratap Shahi in Moradabad.

Similarly,on Tuesday a LIU constable was found at Shahi’s press conference in Meerut, after which he was ousted from there.

“We condenm such acts of the government and warn it not to get involved and stop surveillance on BJP leaders,” he said adding if needed, they would soon meet Governor B L Joshi and hand over the memorandum on the issue to him.
