Four acid bottles recovered outside Manish Tewari’s Chandigarh residence

A complaint in this regard was filed by Satish Kumar, the Personal Security Officer of Tewari.

Four bottles of acid were on Friday night recovered from outside the residence of Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari in Chandigarh, following which the senior Congress leader alleged there was an acid attack attempt on him.

A complaint in this regard was filed by Satish Kumar, the Personal Security Officer of the Union Minister,on Saturday morning.

Following the complaint,a probe has been initiated into the incident by the police. However,it is yet to be known who kept the acid bottles outside Tewari’s residence.

“Four bottles were found outside the boundary wall of the Minister’s residence in Sector 19. While two were empty, two other bottles were filled with acid,” Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar said.

Tewari is a Congress MP from Ludhiana and is mostly based at Delhi and also often visits his parliamentary constituency in Punjab.

Asked if there could be any foul play in the incident, the police official said,”We are investigating the case from all angles. At this stage,it would be premature to say anything.”
