Congmen beat up their ex-MLA in Pune

Ex-Cong MLA Sambhajirao Kunjir was beaten up by party workers belonging to rival faction.

Factional feud in Pune unit of Maharashtra’s ruling Congress today took an ugly turn when a former MLA was assaulted by party workers belonging to rival group in a free-for-all during election to district Congress presidentship.

Sambhajirao Kunjir was kicked,punched and hit on the head with a plastic chair by rival faction members at the Congress Bhavan in Pune.

The workers,allegedly belonging to Sanjay Jagtap group,hailed from Punandar taluka. Kunjir alleged the attack was “pre-meditated”.

MPCC said indiscipline won’t be tolerated and the guilty will be punished.

“We won’t tolerate indiscipline. Those guilty in the sad episode will be punished,” MPPC president Manikrao Thakre said.

MPCC has taken a serious note of the episode,he said,adding stringent action will be taken against those involved.
