Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Thursday alleged the Central government was not serious in resolving the Kashmir issue and was using the process of interlocution as a delaying tactic.

“The government is not serious about dialogue. It is using the process of interlocution as a delaying tactic,” the chairman of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference said here.

“Despite promises to release political prisoners and protesters, arrests continue unabated in the state,” he said in a statement here.

Notwithstanding assurances from Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and appeals from three Central interlocutors to release political detainees, more leaders were being arrested under the PSA,the separatist leader said.

A person can be detained up to two years without trial under the PSA.
