CBSE Class X results: Pass percentage of girls at 92.25,boys 88.22

Girls continued to outshine boys in CBSE Class X exam results declared in Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh,Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh

Girls continued to outshine boys in the Class X examination held by the Central Board of Secondary Education,results for which were declared in Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh,Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh on Tuesday.

Girls were ahead at a pass percentage of 92.25 per cent while,boys were at 88.22 per cent.

“The overall pass percentage for Class X for the region is 90.18 per cent. A total of 1,19,014 students had appeared in the examination,” CBSE Joint Secretary (Panchkula) D R Yadava said.

The overall pass percentage for Class X has shown an improvement this year as compared to last year which stood at 89.07 per cent,he said.

While the Kendriya Vidyalaya had fared well getting a pass percentage of 96.01 per cent,government schools were lagging behind at 65.30 per cent. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and other schools got a pass percentage of 96.92 per cent and 91.47 per cent,respectively.

In the Class XII examination for the region declared by the CBSE a week back,boys had got an overall pass percentage of 77.56 per cent,while the girls had got 86.24 per cent.

Puducherry with 99.72 pass per cent topped the list of states and union territories in the CBSE class X results in the Chennai region,which were announced on Tuesday.

More than one lakh students out of the 1.05 lakh students who appeared for the exam passed,surpassing the previous year’s record of 95.25 per cent,N Nagaraju,Joint Secretary,Chennai region,told reporters.

The Chennai region,comprising Andaman and Nicobar islands,Andhra Pradesh,Daman and Diu,Goa,Karnataka,Kerala,Lakshadweep,Maharashtra,Puducherry and Tamil Nadu,scored an 18-year high record of 95.60 pass per cent.

Kerala,Goa,Karnataka and Tamil Nadu also registered pass percentage of more than 98 per cent.

Kerala with 35,000 students had the maximum number of students who took the exams this year.
