Andhra govt employees taking part in protests to face action

A government order has directed authorities to adopt 'no work,no pay' policy strictly.

The Andhra Pradesh government issued a Government Order (GO) that enables authorities to take disciplinary action against employees who indulge in protests like non-cooperation and tool down, drawing a sharp criticism from pro-Telangana groups.

Holding that the protests are not in public interest, the GO directed the authorities to furnish day-to-day reports on agitation programme to the government.

It asked them to monitor the employees, who sign in the attendance register and do not attend normal work, and also adopt the ‘no work,no pay’ policy strictly.

Coming down heavily on the GO,TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao said it is against the right of employees to protest.

Training his guns on ministers from Telangana region,he said they should make it clear whether they were a party to such a directive.

The ministers from Telangana should either get the GO cancelled or quit their posts,he said.

Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC) Convener M Kodandaram said pro-statehood groups would undertake agitations against the GO.

The leader of government employees union from Telangana K Swamy Goud also demanded the withdrawal of the GO.

The government employees in Telangana undertook a prolonged non-cooperation stir earlier to press the demand for formation of separate state.
