Rahul Gandhi relinquishes Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, Priyanka to make electoral debut
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who emerged victorious from the Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli and Kerala’s Wayanad, will relinquish the latter, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge announced.
Rahul told reporters that Congress leader and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will contest the bypoll from Wayanad. After the decision, Rahul Gandhi said both Rae Bareli and Wayanad “will get two MPs”, while Priyanka added, “I won’t let the people of Wayanad feel Rahul’s absence”. Read more here
Amid Delhi water crisis, Atishi urges Haryana to supply adequate water
The Delhi Water Minister Atishi visited the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant, where the water level is 668.30ft as opposed to the optimal level of 674.5ft for production. She urged the Haryana government to supply adequate water, and pointed out that the water production is extremely low.
The WTP has a capacity of 131 MGD of water but as of today, the production is only 86.21 MGD. The Wazirabad barrage receives water from Haryana which goes to three water treatment plants - Chandrawal, Okhla and Wazirabad.
The Delhi government has been unable to meet the increased surge in potable water demand amidst the heatwave conditions because of insufficient supply of water from Haryana, Atishi said.

"Bharat" and "India" will be used interchangeably in NCERT textbooks as is the case in the country's Constitution, National Council of Educational Research and Training Director Dinesh Prasad Saklani has said.
The comments assume significance in the wake of a high-level panel working on the social science curriculum recommending that "India" should be replaced with "Bharat" in school textbooks for all classes.

Yediyurappa appears before CID in POCSO case
B S Yediyurappa appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the state police on Monday morning in connection with a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act case registered against him in March this year.
He was earlier summoned at 10.30 am on June 12 but the former CM sought time and stated that he would appear on June 17, due to prior engagemants.
