Kerala man ‘hacks’ wife to death in front of minor kids, ‘confesses’ on Facebook Live
The suspect had been estranged from his wife for some time over domestic issues. After going live on Facebook with his alleged admission, he surrendered before the police.

(Express Photo)A Kerala man surrendered himself before the police after he hacked his estranged wife to death in front of their two children in Punalur municipality in Kerala’s Kollam, police said. The man went live on Facebook to purportedly make an admission.
According to the police, the incident occurred in Thamarapally in Punalur, where Shalini, 39, who worked as a maid with a school, lived with her mother. Police said the couple had been leading an estranged life following domestic issues. After allegedly hacking his wife, Isaac went live on Facebook.
“I killed my wife,” he purportedly proclaimed. “She did not obey me and had mortgaged the gold ring that I had given her. I have no regrets. I’m staying at the house which I had constructed after toiling. Her behaviour is arrogant. I’m not an alcoholic or a smoker. She is going for a job somewhere. She needn’t go for one, I’m working. But she has the support of her party and she comes home and goes out whenever she wants.”
Local municipal councillor N Sundaresan said that local authorities had intervened several times in their marital dispute to broker peace.
“Shalini, a former Communist Party of India (Marxist) worker, had recently joined the DMK when its unit was formed. Isaac was not happy about his wife leading a social life. At the same time, he behaved like a husband who blindly loved his wife. Isaac, who used to do odd jobs apart from rubber tapping, was not happy to see his wife as a political worker,” he said.
