Walkathon for charity comes alive in Mumbai

Wife of the British Deputy High Commissioner organised a walkathon 'Footsteps4good'.

To raise funds for charity,wife of the British Deputy High Commissioner organised a walkathon ‘Footsteps4good’ in the city,on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

“The 10-km walkathon was organised at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in the suburbs of the city and hundreds of people from various walks of life participated in it,” Jill,wife of Peter Beckingham,the British Deputy High Commissioner in Mumbai said.

“The walk was just a fun. People from all walks of life participated in it. Tushar Gandhi,great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and social activist waived off the flag for the runners,” she said.

Last year,Jill had organised a ‘march’ from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi,which retraced the 360-km route of the historic Dandi March,to fund Mumbai and Gujarat-based NGOs,serving the deprived. Through the move,Rs 75 lakh had been raised for six NGOs.
