A week after receiving the state government sanction to prosecute former BJP minister Rajeev Bindal, the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday filed the challan in the 15-year-old ‘illegal’ recruitment case in a Solan court.

A police spokesman said that the challan against Bindal,a former president of Solan Municipal Committee, has been filed in the FIR registered against him on December 2,2006. He will stand trial for offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act. This will be first case which the Congress government had decided to launch against a former BJP minister, who also happens to be party’s general secretary and is a sitting MLA from Nahan.

State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday received state government’s approval to file charge-sheet in the court at Solan against Bindal and 22 other accused, whose appointments were cleared by Bindal in 1999-2000.

Bindal, when contacted, said: “I will fight the case both legally and politically. I have done no wrong”.
