An FIR has been lodged against a state government official in Balrampur district for allegedly posting objectionable photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah on his Facebook account.
The FIR was lodged at Balrampur City Kotwali police station on the complaint of BJP’s district media cell incharge Ajay Kumar Pandey who reportedly lodged the complaint on directive of party’s Shravasti MP Daddan Mishra.
Balrampur Kotwali SHO, Sanjay Mishra told The Indian Express that the FIR has been lodged against Additional Programme Officer of MGNREGA Rajesh Yadav under sections of the IT Act. He said a printout of the Facebook account carrying pictures of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah as Ravan had been attached with the complaint. “More details about the Facebook account are being collected. The investigation is on,” Mishra said.

The complainant, Ajay Kumar Pandey said he checked the Facebook account of Rajesh Yadav through the account of a local social worker Anurag Yadav. “I found he had posted a picture of Ravan with Narendra Modi’s face on his one head in the centre while other nine heads had the face of Amit Shah,” he said. A message along with the post read “Aaj-kal desh me Ram ban kar ghum rahe Ravan (These days Ravans are moving around pretending to be Ram),” Pandey said.
Daddan Mishra said when he came to know about the matter, he asked Pandey to lodge a complaint as the posts were highly objectionable. He demanded that the police lodge a case of sedition against the accused.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Rajesh Yadav said. “I did not post that photo on my account. I have told the police that someone had hacked my account and posted that photograph.” Yadav is a contractual employee and he works under district’s Chief Development Office and supervises the works of MGNREGA.
