Two terrorists gunned down in Doda

Two LeT terrorists were gunned down and a woman over ground worker,providing shelter to them,was injured an encounter in Doda district.

Two Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists were gunned down and a woman over ground worker,providing shelter to them,was injured an encounter in Doda district on Saturday morning.

The killed terrorists were identified as Nisar and Khuber,while the injured female over ground worker was identified as Zahida,resident of Bharat area in Doda. There is already high alert in Doda district as Udhampur-Doda parliamentary constituency will go to polls on April 23.

PRO,defence,Jammu Lt Col Biplab Nath said that the encounter started in Bharat area of Doda district at 9.30 am,following a specific information regarding presence of the militants in Bharat.

Confirming the killing of the two militants,Senior Superintendent of Police,Doda Prabhat Singh said that two militants of Lashkar outfit were killed in the joint encounter of the police and army troops of 8 RR,and their one female over ground worker was injured.

He added that the police received information that a female OGW of Bharat area,identified as Zahida was giving shelter to a couple of terrorists of Lashkar outfit.

The army troops and the police surrounded the house and asked for the surrender of the terrorists,who,instead of making surrender before the forces,opened firing on the operation party.

He added that two militants were killed in the two-hour long encounter and Zahida was injured. The injured OGW was rushed to a hospital for treatment,the SSP added.

He said that while a brother of the female OGW Zahida has been picked up by the police for conducting interrogation,Zahida will also be interrogated after coming out of hospital.

He stated that the encounter has ended and the operation party is conducting further search operation in the area including the house of Zahida,where the two terrorists were taking shelter.
