MS Frank,Superintendent of Examinations at St. Stephen’s College resigned from his post on Wednesday following a row with the Principal on the issue of examination of a physically challenged student.

The student suffering from spinal problems cannot sweat and had requested he be seated in an air-conditioned room while giving exams, which was duly granted by the Principal Reverend Thampu. Frank was accused of not helping out the student as directed.

While Frank could not be contacted for comments,Thampu has confirmed the resignation and said,”Frank has resigned from his position as the Superintendent of Examinations but he will still continue working with us as a teacher.”

Frank’s resignation comes after Thampu sent a letter to the Dean of Colleges on April 27,accusing Frank of having a “history of personal animosity” with the student.

However,Frank in his defence wrote,”These relaxations and special facilities are granted by the University only through the Controller of Examinations upon the recommendation of the Chief Medical Officer of DU. I am duty-bound to adhere to the rules laid down in this regard. There was no written application either from the candidate or his parents asking for special facilities/relaxations till 26th April. Still,to keep him comfortable I have gone out of the way to provide as much help as possible.”
