Six gamblers arrested in Srinagar

Six gamblers have been arrested in old Srinagar city and Rs 1.21 lakh was recovered from their possession.

Six gamblers have been arrested in old Srinagar city and Rs 1.21 lakh was recovered from their possession,police said here today.

“Six gamblers were arrested and Rs 1,21,244 bet money was recovered from them. The accused persons were arrested from the premises of Vishwa Bharti College at Rainawari last evening,” a police spokesman said today.

A case under the Gambling Act has been registered against the accused,who are all businessmen,in police station Rainawari,they said.

Meanwhile,an alleged drug peddler was arrested from old Srinagar city and 500 grams of charas recovered from his possession.

Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh was arrested at Malkhah grave yard in Rainawari area of the city last evening while he was selling the charas to a youth,a police spokesman said today.
