The Mandir Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, which had the full backing of the Sangh, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and other affiliated organisations, gave a seven-day ultimatum to the state government to accept its key demands, failing which it threatened to launch a state-wide agitation.

The demands included removal of key officials associated with the demolition drive — Jaipur Development Authority commissioner Shikhar Agarwal, collector Krishna Kunal and Metro CMD N C Goel — an immediate halt to the ongoing drive against temples and an assurance that no more temples would be razed in the future.

The Sangh-backed agitators also demanded complete information about the number of temples earmaked and demolished across the city.
