The lawyers for Union Minister Nihal Chand Meghwal and six others, accused of raping a 20-year-old woman, told the court on Wednesday that they had not been served summons. Seventeen people have been accused in the case.
The court was also told by the local police that the exact residential addresses of the five accused named in the revision plea have not been mentioned by the woman, which is why they could not be traced. The victim’s lawyer, however, said, “It is not the victim’s job to locate the accused. The police should do it.”
The Vaishali Nagar police station cited “work pressure” for not being able to look for prime accused Om Prakash Godara, the victim’s husband. Former MLA Yogeshwar Garg could also not be found at the rented accommodation.
