BJP president Rajnath Singh is expected to formalise an alternative front of six political parties in Tamil Nadu Thursday.
He is slated to travel to Chennai to announce a pre-poll alliance between DMDK, BJP, PMK, MDMK, IJK, KDMK as an alternative to the ruling AIADMK and opposition DMK in the state.
The BJP, meanwhile, praised suspended DMK leader Alagiri for reaching out to the saffron party with an offer to support it from outside if it comes to power.
“Alagiri is an important person and an Indian citizen and a voter and he has the strength. So, we are asking him, we are asking everybody,” BJP general secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu Muralidhar Rao said Wednesday.
“Each and every person counts in making this campaign stronger and stronger… BJP gaining support from new persons and new quarters is a gain, it is always a gain,” Rao added.
Alagrir had recently met Singh with his offer of support.
