CPI leader Pansare postmortem complete, body airlifted

Communist leader Govind Pansare, who passed away in the city’s Breach Candy hospital, underwent post-mortem in state-run JJ hospital Saturday morning.

According to a forensic expert in the hospital, Pansare died due to bullet injuries in his chest.

“His body was brought here in the morning and the post mortem is complete. His body is now being air lifted back to Kolhapur,” the forensic expert said.

Pansare was brought to Mumbai on Friday evening after his family requested to transfer him to Breach Candy hospital. According to Dr TP Lahane, who accompanied the leader till the hospital, the latter’s condition was critical and required ventilator support.

On Friday, since 9 pm, Pansare’s vital parameters deteriorated and he succumbed to heavy bleeding in lungs.

JJ hospital’s dean Dr TP Lahane confirmed, “Govind Pansare died due to bleeding in lungs. His body was air-lifted at 11.40 am today to Kolhapur for final rites.”
