Giving details, a defence ministry spokesperson Lt Colonel Manish Mehta said that the firing from Pakistan side came around 6.15 pm. The Indian army retaliated and the exchange of small arms fire was continuing.

Meanwhile, sources said that the latest ceasefire violation from across the LoC came at the same place where an army jawan was hit by a snippet shot the previous evening. The jawan was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to injury during night.

Earlier this month, five people including three women were injured in Pakistani shelling on Eid in Poonch district.
