Peeved over withdrawal of security to their leader,Opposition PDP members on Monday created pandemonium in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly and staged a walkout.
Raising the matter during Question Hour,PDP members shouted anti-government slogans and charged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with being vindictive against their leaders and carrying out witch hunt.
Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari and Abdul Rehman Veeri (both PDP) raised the issue of security of their leaders particularly former MLA Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Mir and said clear directions from Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone to Additional Director General (CID) K Rajendra in this regard had been ignored.
They charged the government with insulting the House and the Speaker by not restoring security to the former PDP MLA.
Amid slogan shouting and clashes between the opposition and the treasury benches,Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar said the government had sent additional police personnel to Mir but since he was not there, the police force returned.
However, this failed to satisfy the PDP members, who staged a walkout led by their patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Opposition BJP and Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party members then raised the issue of alleged discrimination in allotment of funds to various districts by the state government.
Shouting anti-government slogans, they trooped into the well and accused the chief minister, who holds the portfolio of Planning and Development,of political vendetta.
As the government did not yield to their demand for a statement on the issue, they staged a walkout.
