One person was killed and at least four persons were injured following a clash between the security guards of Haridwar-based Patanjali Food and Herbal Park and supporters of a local truck union on Wednesday. The deceased person have been identified as Daljit Singh who was in transportation business.
Confirming the incident, Haridwar SSP Sweety Agrawal said police have detained few persons, including Ram Bharat, who is Baba Ramdev’s brother. Replying to a question, she said there was firing on the spot also. “Reason behind Daljeet’s death would be clear only after getting the autopsy report,” she said. Agrawal also added two policemen who were on the spot were also injured.
According to police, supporters of truck union wanted the management of Patanajali Food and Herbal Park to assign the job of transportation to local truck owners. However, the management prefered to engage the outside transporters who offer their services at cheaper rates. “Local truck union wants the management of Patanjali Food and Herbal Park not to engage trucks which are outsiders in the area,” a source in Haridwar police said.
Meanwhile, police have undertaken search operation in the area to identify those who were involved in the incident.
