Although the results have been announced, the verification process will begin only after the recruitment verification for classes 11 and 12 is completed, according to a senior official from the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC).
While the exact number or percentage of successful candidates deemed “untainted” in the 2016 SSC test could not be specified, many teachers who lost their jobs following the Supreme Court order on April 3 and chose to take fresh tests are now among the successful candidates, the official mentioned.
The list of candidates selected for interviews is expected to be published in the first week of December. The official stated that a total of 293,192 candidates took the 11-subject examination. The number of available vacancies may increase when the revised list is released before the interview and document verification stages.
Candidates can check their results using their roll number and date of birth. Previously, the WBSSC published a list of candidates for 12,445 vacancies in classes 11 and 12, with the written examination held on September 14.
In total, 35,657 vacancies for assistant teacher positions in classes 9-10 and 11-12 are being filled through the second state-level selection test. On April 3, the Supreme Court invalidated the appointments of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching staff, declaring the entire recruitment process “vitiated and tainted.” As a result, the state initiated a new recruitment process to fill these vacancies.
