Omar Abdullah amazed at Sachin Tendulkar ‘storm’

"I think Sachin would have preferred a Bharat Ratna," J&K Chief Minister said.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah,an avid cricket fan,today said he was “amazed” by the storm generated by nomination (member of Parliament – MP) of cricket superstar Sachin Tendulkar to the Rajya Sabha.

“Amazing to see the storm that Sachin’s nomination (to Rajya Sabha) has generated,” Omar wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter.com.

However,Omar felt that the cricketing legend,who has almost every batting record to his name,would have preferred a Bharat Ratna to nomination to the upper house of the Parliament.

“I think he’d have preferred a Bharat Ratna after all,” the Chief Minister added.

Tendulkar was yesterday nominated by President Pratibha Patil to Rajya Sabha.
