No dates on LS polls yet,clarifies Quraishi

Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi had said that the LS polls will take place in April-May this year.

In the wake of reports quoting Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi saying that the Lok Sabha elections would be held between April 8 and May 15,the Commission said on Wednesday no date has been finalised so far.

“The EC has not met so far to decide any dates for general elections. Any story quoting the dates has no authenticity,” an EC spokesman said.

“We,in the Election Commission,have not yet discussed the final dates,but it will be held between April 8 and May 15,” Quraishi had said after delivering a lecture on ‘J and K Elections 2008’,at the India House in London last evening.

The term of the 14th Lok Sabha expires in May and announcement of the poll schedule is expected soon.
