National Conference leader shot dead ahead of panchayat polls

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.

In a first political killing ahead of panchayat polls,unidentified gunmen tonight shot dead a ruling NC leader and injured his wife in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district,officials said.

The gunmen barged into the house of a local NC leader Ghulam Mohiuddin at Pinglish in Tral area,35 kms from here,and opened indiscriminate fire on the inmates,they said.

53-year-old Mohiuddin died on the spot and his wife Haseena was injured and referred to a hospital in a serious condition,they said.

This is the first political killing in Kashmir Valley since the notification for panchayat polls was issued earlier this month.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
