Senior Congress leader Anil Shastri, son of former Prime Minister late Lal Bahadur Shastri, on Wednesday hit out at Narendra Modi, terming him as the “first self-centred PM” of the country.

“The country has seen a self-centred Prime Minister for the first time in Narendra Modi, and this is not good for our democracy,” Anil said during a campaign here for civic polls.

To a question, he said the US President Barack Obama did not visit India because of any personal invitation, but in response to invitation of the Government of India.

Asked whether Obama may have returned home impressed by Modi, the Congress leader said, “He looked so impressed not due the last six months’ work but because of the labour put in the last many years.”
