After last week’s attack on the Registrar’s office allegedly by Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS),the University of Mumbai has decided to impose a year’s ban on the student wing of MNS along with another outfit Samatawadi Chhatrabharti.
The management council of the university has decided that the authorities should not meet delegations of MNVS and Samatawadi for a year, which implied a ban on them for the said duration as well on any student organisation that indulges in violence,” a top official of the varsity said.
The council members also suggested disqualifying senate member Vaibhav Narawade, who allegedly helped an MNVS activist in carrying out a sting operation in the suburban Kalina campus exam centre to expose loopholes in the system.
The university has decided to constitute committees on both the issues, the official said.
However,Narawade,a lecturer in Vasantdada Patil engineering college, denied the allegations. Some of his supporters demanded that case filed against him should be withdrawn.
