Mercury soars in Vidarbha

The Vidarbha region is reeling under an intense heat wave with temperatures remaining above 40° C at most places.

Nagpur:The Vidarbha region is reeling under an intense heat wave with temperatures remaining above 40° C at most places. Chandrapur Sunday recorded 48° C,unprecedented even during the height of summer in May. Last year,the highest temperature here in May was 47° C. While the coal city temperature dropped to 45.4° C Monday,Nagpur sizzled at 44.7° C,up from 44.4° C Sunday.

Man,daughter killed in road mishap

Nashik:A man and his two-year-old daughter were killed,while his wife and son injured in a road accident near Sakur village Sunday evening. Police said the family going to attend a marriage on a Scooty was hit by a speeding tempo. Avinash Gade and his daughter Diksha died on the spot. Soon after the mishap,an irate mob attacked the tempo,police said.
