Man held with 2.5-kg heroin in Jalandhar dist

The Jalandhar rural police on Monday arrested a 23-year-old youth and recovered 2.5 kg heroin,worth Rs 12.5 crore in the international market,from him at Chuhe-Ki village in Jalandhar district.

The Jalandhar rural police on Monday arrested a 23-year-old youth and recovered 2.5 kg heroin,worth Rs 12.5 crore in the international market,from him at Chuhe-Ki village in Jalandhar district.

Surjit Lal alias Sodhi,from whom the police also recovered Rs 24 lakh in cash,is an accused in a rape case and was declared proclaimed offender last year.

Jalandhar Rural Police SSP Yurinder Singh told mediapersons that following a tip-off,they arrested Sodhi from his residence in Chuhe-Ki village. During the raid,they recovered 2.5 kg heroin from his Innova car. Later,Rs 24 lakh was recovered from the residence of his relatives at Partapura village near Phillaur.
