Man held with 17 SIM cards

A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly trying to smuggle SIM cards inside the Sirsa jail.

A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly trying to smuggle SIM cards inside the Sirsa jail. During routine checking at the inner entry gate of the jail,Sushil Kumar — a resident of Sirsa — was caught with 17 SIM cards. He had come to meet his son,Vishwanath,who is facing a trial in a cellphone theft case.

According to the police,Sushil had managed to sneak in the SIM cards inside the jail premises by concealing these in the inner pocket of his trousers. However,

during the final checking that takes place on the inner gate of the jail — from where a visitor enters the compound to meet a prisoner — he was frisked again and

the SIM cards found in his possession.

While Kumar has failed to justify why he was carrying so many SIM cards,initial investigations revealed that most of the SIM cards were activated and the accused many have tried to smuggle these inside the jail through his son.
