Man held for rape and murder of 35-year-old

A 35-year-old woman was allegedly raped and later murdered in a village in Mahendergarh district of Haryana,police said. The womans body was recovered Sunday and the post mortem examination confirmed sexual assault before her murder.

The incident took place in Narnauls Rambas village. The accused Satyavir,resident of the same village,was arrested on charges of rape and murder.

According to police,Satyavir went to the victims house and informed her that her goats have gone missing in the fields. He offered to help help her trace them and took her to a forested area on the outskirts of the village. There he allegedly raped her. However,when she threatened to expose him,Satyavir attacked her with an axe killing her on the spot.

Sunday morning,when the women of the area went to collect wood from the jungle,they spotted the victims body and informed the villagers,who in turn informed the police.

During the police investigations it came to fore that Satyavir and the victim were seen going towards the jungle the previous evening. Satyavir was detained and interrogated during which he admitted having committed the gory crime.

In another incident that took place in Gohana of Sonepat district,a youth was arrested on charges of attempt to rape a minor girl.
