A Jammu and Kashmir political party has planned a conference of leaders from both sides of the Line of Control in September to discuss ways to resolve the Kashmir issue. "The heart-to-heart talks among the leaders and intellectuals from both sides of Line of Control will be organised from 18th to 25th September 2010 in New Delhi by Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party," its Chairman Bhim Singh told reporters here today. He said the purpose of the meeting was to find an acceptable solution to the Kashmir issue. Asserting that Kashmir is an integral part of India,he said,"the only issue is of 32,500 sq kilometres occupied by Pakistan including the area gifted by it to China". Singh said he will be approaching Hurriyat leaders to participate in the proposed meeting. Prominent leaders who have been invited included former president of PoK Sardar Mohammad Abdul Qayyum Khan, several former J-K chief ministers and chairmen of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. He hoped that the government will allow the invitees from PoK to attend the meeting. It will be the third such conference after 2005 and 2007,Singh said, adding despite the ongoing stalemate between India and Pakistan,"we have not lost hope of peace process. To bridge the vacuum, such talks are vital to continue the contact between the two countries".
