Announcing his decision a day after the conclusion of the monsoon session of the Assembly, Karthikeyan said he had already conveyed this to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, KPCC president V M Sudheeran and senior leader A K Antony. “I am awaiting the party’s permission in this regard. I am a political animal… I want to return to active politics,’’ the MLA from Aruvikkara segment in Thiruvananthapuram district, said.

Karthikeyan, a former minister, said he was not hankering after a posts but to return to active politics. “I have been given everything by the party since I plunged into politics. The Speaker’s post was also given to me by the party. Now also I will go by what party decides,” he said.
